And trust me, you may want to make a little extra! The creamy white cheese ravioli sauce and tender ravioli make this a side dish that gets people coming back for seconds. It’s simple, satisfying, and exactly the kind of recipe you’ll want to keep in your regular dinner rotation.
You can make homemade ravioli from scratch. But to keep things simple, use frozen filled ravioli. That’s what I used for this recipe. It saves time and still makes a delicious, comforting meal.

Building the Creamy White Cheese Ravioli Sauce:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil. Add the frozen cheese ravioli and cook according to the package directions, usually about 3–4 minutes, until the ravioli are tender and cooked through. Before draining, carefully reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water. This starchy water will help loosen the sauce and give it a smooth, creamy texture later. Drain the ravioli gently and set them aside while you prepare the sauce.

While the ravioli cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and finely chopped shallot, then sauté for about 1–2 minutes until they become soft and fragrant. Be careful not to brown the garlic, as you want a smooth, mellow flavor in the creamy sauce.
Pour the heavy cream and milk into the skillet with the sauteed garlic and shallot. Stir everything together and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to come together. Keep the heat at medium-low and avoid bringing the cream to a rapid boil.
Lower the heat and slowly sprinkle the grated Parmesan into the warm cream sauce, stirring continuously as it melts. Continue stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth. Add the Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. If the sauce is too thick, slowly add some of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your preferred consistency.
Gently add the cooked ravioli to the creamy Parmesan sauce. Use a large spoon or spatula to carefully toss the ravioli until each piece is coated in the sauce. Let everything warm together for 1–2 minutes, allowing the ravioli to soak up some of that delicious garlic Parmesan flavor. Serve immediately with extra Parmesan and freshly cracked black pepper.

Serve and Enjoy!
Spoon the creamy ravioli onto plates while it’s hot and finish with a generous sprinkle of freshly grated Parmesan and cracked black pepper. For an extra cozy family dinner, serve it alongside warm garlic bread or a simple green salad. Enjoy this creamy, cheesy comfort food while it’s fresh and delicious.

- Add pasta water slowly: You may not need the entire cup. Add it a little at a time to create a smooth, creamy sauce.
- Keep the heat low when adding Parmesan: This helps the cheese melt smoothly without becoming clumpy.
